Man amazed at his fellow worker's trousers full of rats.
The Scottish Word:

Nicky-tams.

“Ah’ve telt ye a hunner times, nicky-tams is for keepin’ rambunctious rats oot – no in!”

Translate:

nicky-tams: string tied around the leg below the knee to keep trouser leg bottoms out of the mud.

“I have told you repeatedly, nicky tams are for keeping rambunctious rats out – not in!”

Illustration Friday.
Rambunctious; Next time I suggest a word for IF, I’ll make sure I have a solution worked out first. I’ve recycled this rather old page which I think fits the word well. I’m in bed too ill to make a new one. This image could also do the job for the IF word string.
