Translate:
siller-blind: So wealthy one is completely unable to understand the daily reality of hardship and poverty – Wealth created ignorance and utter lack of empathy caused by the privileged redundancy of dealing with domestic finances or knowing how they work. And consequently no concept of the problems of the impoverished, or even the average family, or anyone at all.
I’m collecting for Comic Relief. Laugh – and give me a lot. And I don’t care if you’re money blind or not.
I take any card you care to try, no limits. Give loads.
All the money goes to help those less fortunate.
ˈsɪlər-blʌɪnd
The Scottish Word: siller-blind with its definition and its meaning illustrated and captioned with the word used in context in the Scots language and in English.
Give As Much As You Can.
Siller-blind is not just the privilege of the mega wealthy with their billionaire yachts. Some of us with comfortable but modest incomes mistakenly think we are hard up.
Wealth is relative. Sadly it is the poor with the least to give who seem to have the most empathy and who give what they can ill afford. Give what you can.
Refugees.
There is a bigger world out there. It’s not just people like us.
A reminder that the areas of Europe, UK, United Sates, Japan and China all fit comfortably inside the area of Africa. There are other people in the wider world that need our help just as much as the Ukranians.
They are fleeing from climate impact, oppression, earthquakes, fires and water shortages. As well as wars, some fought with weapons sold by the UK.
Red Nose Day.
Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day is a charity I support in the UK.
Please donate to them or to where you can. No matter how small. A lot of small things add up. And what is small to us is big to another.
