  1. Many Scottish words have found an affectionate (but increasingly unidentified) home in Australia.
    ‘Chook/chookie’ is probably the most commonly used word for a fowl.
    ‘Chicken’ is the meat of the bird (and it’s progeny), although a friend often speaks of ‘marinated chookie for the barbecue’.
