The Extinction Rebellion, named after the Holocene extinction (an ongoing extinction event caused by human activities), is an environmental activist group that started in the United Kingdom in 2018.

Formed by a collective of 100 academics, it’s intended to pressure governments—by way of thoughtful non violent civil disobedience to take action against biodiversity loss and climate and ecological collapse.

Strange how things work. Extinction Rebellion protesters got as much as 6 years jail time for blocking a road and yet Farmers did the same with their tractors to protest against a tax change and no-one was even arrested.
