aix; there are no x words so here's the word aix to keep this page company ɛks axe, hatchet  
x is the form of the phonetic symbol that represents the soft ch sound, like a soft non hoarse throaty exhalation of air that is made in the back of the throat, for words such as loch and broch. Some non Scots can't make that noise and are stuck with ck, pronouncing loch and broch as lock and brok which is so so wrong. x literally represents a specific sound
