"Wha installed this taigle o pipes in here in the first place? That’s what I want to ken. An what sort o muckle knapdarloch fitted in here tae dae it!"
knapdarloch: contemptuous term for an undersized dirty cheeky person, a matted knob of dirt hanging from the tail or coat of an animal.
"Do you know who installed this tangle of pipes in here in the first place? That’s what I want to know. And what sort of gigantic good for nothing stunted small tiny idiot managed to fit in here to do it!"
Your dog will witness your handiwork and indicate amazement, awe and approval.
Whereas your cat will look on clearly awaiting disaster and indicate that that’s not the way it would be doing it nor would anyone else it knows be doing it that way either.

Why Scottish Words gives an overview of this site's purpose, its beginning and why Scottish words were chosen as a topic to illustrate define and translate. There you can also access some information about me and information in using the phonetic alphabet to help with pronouncing the words. There is a site map here of this site. If you like a challenge you can try the Scottish word quizzes and you can buy and wear a T-shirt of mine from spreadshirt.com - helping to support this site. You can also view my favourite links or my collection of public links at delicious.com - these are mainly for illustrators, designers, animators and artists.

Naturally all the cartoons are my copyright so if you want to use any please let me know. It's surprising how accommodating many artists are with the use of low resolution versions of their images providing you are not making money or other capital from them and the author is credited. But you must ask. Enjoy and thanks for visiting. Alan.

Ay! I recognise this. Cramped space, reparations, irritations… and cats. Ayayay
Oh dear, haha. Great job on the perspective. Love the cats!
Space cats observing the strange behaviour of earthlings. This is quite claustrophobic! I love your colour choices and textures!
This is wonderful! I love the expression on his face and the cats are priceless.
Yep, this is why we call plumbers!
Ha ha!! Great perspective! I feel claustrophobic looking at this! (And perhaps a bit congested from the cats…) “knapdarloch”…..I really need to adopt this word into my vocabulary. I undoubtedly will have use for it!
